Living Green Eco Symposium

In our 6th anniversary year the Burlington Jazz'n Blues Festival is proud to announce the 2nd Annual Living Green Energy Conservation Symposium. The Symposium has been created to educate Ontario's energy consumers on practical energy conservation applications in their business and personal lives.

We are looking for participants for this year's expo. If you have a company that wants to promote your green product or service our eco-symposium is a direct way for you to reach the pubic. Burlington is known for it's music festivals and this year we anticipate a crowd of approx. 75,000people over three days. The symposium is being held in partnership with a variety of key energy providers as one of the Festival's main attractions.

To show people a healthy alternative to their current meat centered diets we reveal the relationship between reducing Global Warming and animal slaughter. The foods served each day in the Festival promises to delicious, healthy and earth friendly. We will also sort and classify all our garbage for recycling, composting or landfill.

The symposium with provide the knowledge and tools to help people join the conservation movement. We want energy conservation awareness to become a focal point of the Festival in the coming years. The Festival can be a major contributor for the provinces energy reduction consumption goals by reaching the consumers en mass with your participation. The effect of this effort on an annual basis will bring about rapid change in energy usage.

Energy Saving Kit Giveaway

Union Gas in partnership with the Burlington Jazz'n Blues Festival continues to promote the Energy Conservation Culture here in Ontario with their distribution of Energy Saving Kits.

Our Energy Saving Kit is worth $35.00 each says Rod Buchalter from Union Gas. The Kit includes

• 1 Energy-Efficient Kitchen Swivel Aerator
• 1 Energy-Efficient Bathroom Aerator
• 1 Roll of Teflon Tape
• 2 Meters of Foam Pipe Insulation

Water heating is the second largest user of energy in your home here in Burlington after space heating.

The installing of their energy-efficient showerhead will save approximately 17,500 L of water and 68 m3 of natural gas a year. This equates to reducing your CO2 consumption by 136 kg a year. The Installing of the free kitchen aerator will save approximately 7,800 L of water and 22 m3 of natural gas a year. This equates to a reduction in your CO2 consumption by 42 kg a year. The installing of their bathroom aerator will save approximately 2,000 L of water and 6 m3 of natural gas a year. This equates to a reduction in your CO2 consumption by 11 kg a year. Finally by installing their free pipe insulation you will save 17 m3 of natural gas a year and help reduce CO2 consumption by 32 kg a year.

This all adds up to an approx savings of $100.00 to every consumer along with a reduction of 1/4 ton of green house emissions per household.

Every 400 Union Gas customer homes that install these free kits means a potential reduction of 100 tons of green house emissions. Now that is making a real difference to our environment says Hebert.
